Residential Hindu student centers across North America · A project of the Hindu Society of America

Vivekananda House · USA

Live. Study.
Serve. Together.

Residential houses for Hindu students, a short walk from class, rooted in dharma and open to all.

Why a house

Hindu student groups rebuild their community every year, then watch it graduate away.

A house does not graduate. It holds the address, the kitchen, the shrine and the furniture, so each incoming year inherits a community instead of founding one.

सेवा

Service

The house cooks, cleans, and hosts itself. What residents give to it is the first thing they learn in it.

स्वाध्याय

Study

A library, a reading room, and people a year ahead of you who have already sat the same exam.

सत्संग

Company

Weeknight aarti, festival days, and the ordinary evenings in between, the ones nobody organizes.

Inside a house

A driveway, a front room, and a hall that fills up.

Every house is an ordinary residential building near campus. What makes it a Vivekananda House is what the residents put inside it.
